A hotel with a special atmosphere and top service
Our family-run three-star Hotel Lohmühle impresses with its unique ambiance and personal service. A total of 21 double rooms and just as many single rooms offer you an upscale city hotel experience with traditional Franconian charm. The rooms are equipped with a shower/WC – some rooms have a bathtub – as well as cable TV, radio, direct-dial telephone, and free Wi-Fi. Complimentary mineral water is also available in every room for our guests. Our private parking lot provides ample space for all our house guests, and bus travelers can use the bus parking space directly in front of the hotel.
So you can sleep well: Generously sized quality beds
Here at Hotel Lohmühle, you sleep exclusively on high-quality beds – and they are all generously sized: Our single beds are always at least 90 cm wide (some even 120 cm) and 200 cm long. Our double beds measure 180 x 200 cm, almost all featuring two separate single mattresses. Duvets, pillows, and covers have also been carefully selected – because your restful sleep is important to us. Sleep well!
Main Building
The main building does not have an elevator, but it offers 12 newly renovated double rooms that can also be booked as a home office, featuring delightful Franconian flair. The hotel rooms are designed to match the rustic charm of the facade.
New building
Especially important for those who value comfort or rely on it: Our new building features an elevator! The 21 single rooms and 9 double rooms in the new building are also somewhat more modernly furnished, while everything is very stylishly decorated, giving a touch of a country hotel to the ambiance. Some of the larger double rooms can even be converted into triple rooms. The elevator and the room and bathroom doors can be easily accessed with a standard wheelchair. We are also happy to set up baby cribs free of charge (baby monitors are available for rent) or provide a bowl for your four-legged friend upon request.
Guest Area and Lobby
Our idyllic lobby offers a magnificent view of the Mühlbach through the floor-to-ceiling windows in every season. Perhaps you might even catch a glimpse of our Lohmühlen beaver, who calls this place home. If you prefer a cozy atmosphere, we can light a crackling fireplace for you. The water in a mill wheel gently gurgles in the room divider leading to the adjacent reception area. Here, you can relax with board games, a good book, or the daily newspaper, which you can obtain from the reception.
Attention sports fans: In the lobby, you can watch Sky Sports on a particularly large television. You won't miss a single detail of the latest referee decisions!
Location and Accessibility
Our hotel is located directly by the picturesque Mühlbach and is just a two-minute walk from the Bayreuth city center, its attractions, and the pedestrian zone, making it one of the preferred addresses in Bayreuth.
From here, everything is easily accessible:

The event venues:
- Stadthalle (5 minutes on foot)
- Oberfrankenhalle (2 minutes on foot)
- Eisstadion (2 minutes on foot)
- Hans-Walter-Wild-Stadion (5 minutes on foot)
- The bus stop "Sportpark/Oberfrankenhalle" is also just 200 meters away.
For cyclists, we are ideally located right at the entrance to the Main Cycle Path. Bicycles can be securely stored with us, and rental bikes are also available for use.
Environment and Sustainability
We are committed to working in a particularly sustainable and environmentally conscious manner:
This is not only achieved by producing our own honey at Lohmühle for you, but also through the following (and many more) measures:
- We use sustainable energy (predominantly self-generated) and sustainably produced heat and hot water
- We have implemented comprehensive energy-saving measures
- Starting in 2025, the hotel will also be connected to the district heating network
- We consistently focus on waste reduction (e.g., through reusable systems)
- It is also a matter of course for us: Regional purchasing for short transport routes and less CO2; especially directly from the producer
- Our fish primarily comes from our own pond or (certified marine farmed fish) from Deutsche See
- Honey comes from our own hive (souvenirs) and from a friend who is a beekeeper in the region
- Meat comes exclusively from controlled farming (and is processed "nose to tail")
- The eggs at the buffet come from free-range chickens/broiler rearing or from barn farming – all directly from the producer
- We focus on organic and fair trade for coffee and tea – and on muesli directly from the producer
But that's not all: We are doing much more in terms of sustainability and environmental protection!
These and many other measures are also recognized and appreciated by independent bodies. Among other things, we have been awarded the Gold Prize at the "DEHOGA Environmental Check" and certified for the "Climate + Environmental Pact Bavaria".

The beaver seems to really appreciate what we are doing!
A wild beaver (strictly protected under the Federal Nature Conservation Act) appears to be very fond of what we at Lohmühle are doing in terms of environmental and nature conservation. It can often be observed near our hotel restaurant. So here's to good neighborliness, dear beaver!
