Friday Afternoon and Evening:
After your arrival at the Hotel Restaurant Lohmühle, you will start your early summer weekend relaxed – hopefully with wonderful weather – with a refreshing walk through the Hofgarten, which is only a 3-minute walk away. Enjoy the green oasis in the middle of the city and let yourself be enchanted by the picturesque atmosphere. Afterwards, we recommend a visit to the adjacent New Palace of Bayreuth (open until 6:00 PM during the summer months).
Explore the magnificent rooms and learn more about the history of the palace, city, and region. After that, take a stroll through the old town streets of Bayreuth and end the evening in the beer garden of our hotel restaurant with Franconian specialties and a glass of beer or wine.
Saturday Morning:
The next morning, immerse yourself in the fascinating world of music and culture for which Bayreuth is famous. Take a look at Richard Wagner's Festival Hall from the outside (unfortunately, there are no guided tours inside during the summer months because rehearsals for the festival are taking place) and stroll through the park surrounding the Festival Hall. There are not only beautiful old trees and wonderful flower beds but also many interesting information boards, including about former singers and musicians who participated in the Bayreuth Festival during their lifetimes. Afterwards, we recommend a visit to the Margravial Opera House (and the associated museum), which uniquely conveys the world of the Baroque and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
Saturday Afternoon and Evening:
After a delightful lunch in our hotel restaurant and a short break, we recommend a visit to the Park and Palace Eremitage. Explore the magnificent gardens and impressive buildings shaped by Margravine Wilhelmine. Let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of nature and the impressive architecture, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon amidst idyllic landscapes.
Perhaps there will be an opportunity to attend the outdoor theater performances that take place in the park during the summer season! They usually start at 8:00 PM; tickets can be obtained at www.studiobuehne-bayreuth.de/theater/de/spielplan/kalender/ or directly at the theater box office at Opernstraße 22 (Tel.: 0921/69001) or one hour before the performance at the evening box office in the Eremitage.
For dinner, perhaps a delicious fish dish in our hotel restaurant would be just right! And after a short stroll through the old town, maybe a glass of sparkling wine in your hotel room?
Sunday Morning:
Before you head home (even after checking out, we can still store your luggage at the hotel!), you have the opportunity on Sunday morning to visit the Richard Wagner Museum, which is within walking distance, where you can gain insight into the life and work of the famous composer. Then, enjoy a cozy lunch in our hotel restaurant before leaving Bayreuth.
